About

Having moved to Izmir 20 months ago, I noticed that the transport map of the city reflects the interaction with public transport in an unpredictable way. I started to study this topic and draw my own sketches of transport maps.

Community creation

At the same time, I met designers from EPAM in Turkey. We found here a common desire to create and develop a design community.
The community was named "Purrfect Design".
My workshop was the third community event.

Studied

theory and examples of other cities, how designers solve navigation problems in transport schemes.
visual language of Turkish navigation on the example of official maps and amateurs.

Collected

the list of misunderstandings when using the Izmir map by surrounding people.
the best examples of cases to solve such problems.

Actions

Before the Workshop

highlighted the key theoretical information.
divided it into stages so that it formed a step-by-step format of the workshop.
added examples to each section.

At the workshop

with the help of the community, gathered designers, developers, and external performers interested in this topic.
helped them analyse the current map, identify the problems they want to solve, and present their solution.

3 versions of Izmir transport maps.
Attracting a new audience to the young Turkish community 'Purrfect Design'.
A cozy Friday evening in a circle of like-minded people.
